SEO & Analytics Features
SEO or Search Engine Optimization is an important factors determining the up-take of an ecommerce website. There are several features that the platform offers, that are directly related to SEO, but the success or failure of a website is also dependant on the quality of the content, the theme structure and other factors beyond the website itself.
Meta Title & Description
Brands, Collection and Retail Products have meta title and description fields, which can be set to optimal for SEO values. When the meta title field is left blank, the product brand name together with the product name is used as the meta title.
Reference names are used to refer to Brands, Collections, Retail Product, Pages and other elements. The purpose of the reference name is to be used in the URLs of the content pages. This allows changing the display name or meta title of an element without affecting any of the external links pointing to the element.
URLs for Brand, Collection and Product pages consist of number of elements, which can be configured in different ways, to achieve optimal user-friendliness and SEO.
All valid URLs can be rewritten to make them more user and/or SEO friendly. The rewriting of URLs is a bi-directional process, meaning that each URL will be rewritten on output as a link on a page, as well as on incoming request.
Type-less URL with Reference Name Lookup
It is possible to remove the content type prefix (/product/..., /collection/... etc.), and only leave the object reference name in the URL. Upon receiving a request, all reference names across all object types are searched until a match is found.
Changing reference name of a product can lead to broken links. URL change history keeps track of such changes, so that request for the old, now invalid, URL will be redirected to the new URL with response code 301, meaning "moved permanently". This ensures that no traffic is lost due to broken URLs.
Traffic analytics is a set of powerful tools for analysing traffic.
